Week 19 - Christmas is over!

(12/23/07 - 12/29/07)

Well let's see, we have made it through our first Christmas with Jake and he is enjoying his "big boy" bouncy chair that he got from Santa. Paul and I are going to attempt to have fun tonight at the Corcoran Family New Years Eve festivites. But if I were a betting lady I am fairly certain that we will leave by 8:30 to get Jake to bed.

Overall Jake is doing great! He is now putting EVERYTHING in his mouth and recognizes and prefers certain toys over others. He can sit supported and likes to be constantly entertained. In fact Paul and I are having a problem keeping him happy because he is a little "high maintenance" and wants to have something (or someone) always bouncing, singing, or moving in front of him all the time (but no fears Paul is dusting off his awesome dance moves for Jake)!

Jacob is sleeping 9-11 hours at night and is usually asleep by 9:00-10:00 and doesn't wake until around 8:00AM. Then he takes about four forty minutes naps every three hours during the day.

I still haven't put him on rice cereal, and want to breastfeed for as long as possible. We have his "4 month checkup/immunization" appointment on Friday so I will report back next week how much he weighs and how long he is then.

He is waking up from his nap, so I am off to feed and change him (and dance, sing, and wiggle to keep him happy!)

Week 18- Merry Christmas.....and Santa!

(12/16/07 - 12/22/07)

This is it, the time Paul and I have been waiting for, CHRISTMAS TIME! And to think this time last year we were pregnant and didn't even know it! It has been a crazy couple of months but we are finally starting to get in the groove of things. It is amazing how having a little one can get you back into the Christmas spirit. I have to admit that I started dusting off the boxes of Christmas decorations the Tuesday BEFORE Thanksgiving!!! I was so excited to have the house all decorated for Jake.

But of course he doesn't realize what is going on and Paul and I keep using "We are buying these for Jake!" as an excuse to buy more decorations.....can you believe we even bought these duck figures with Santa hats "cause Jake will like them"....hehehehehehe

Santa, what can I say about St. Nick? Well....Grandma Mary Jo and I went to the mall to get Jacobs picture with Santa. I of course decked Jake out in his ultra adorable christmas bear outfit and we headed out to the mall. The Santa at the our Mall is THE BEST he is so real and is very very good with the kids. I of course am worried about one thing, "Will Jake cry when I put him on Santas lap?" The good news is no, he didn't....at least not until after the picture was taken and then the fat bottom lip started sticking out and the whining started!

Overall this has been a very enjoyable "Babys First Christmas" and Paul and I can't wait until next year when he is 16 months old and running around and my tree has no ornaments from the waist down and those adorable Ducks with Santa hats wind up in the toy box or hidden under the couch from Jake moving them!!
